What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of alternative medicine known as energy healing that facilitates stress reduction, relaxation, and mind-body wellness. The word and technique, Reiki, has Japanese origins: Rei (spirit, divine, universal) and Ki (life force, energy). During a session, reiki is transferred from the practitioner to the client through the palms and can be administered as light touch (non-invasive hands-on-healing), no touch (hands hover over the body), or distance (client is in a different location). Those receiving Reiki may experience tingling, heat, cold, light pressure, emotional release or no sensation during or after a session; all of which are normal. Reiki is safe, natural, and may be offered to anyone.
